PHSAA Scholarships
2009
Dear 2009 Scholarship Recipients,

It is with great pride that we present to you a $1000.00 scholarship to help launch your further education.  We had many wonderful applicants for this scholarship and we want to congratulate you on your accomplishments while at our alma mater, Palestine High School.

Your contact person in PHSAA is Sandra Stephenson.  We will be sending the money directly to the college of your choice to be credited to your account.  Feel free to contact Mrs. Stephenson if you have questions about the process.

The PHS graduating class of 1958 elected to award two scholarships in honor of Janice Burris, a member of the Class of 1958, Vice President of PHSAA.

The 4 Recipients are ...

• Rosalinda Salinas, PHSAA Burris Scholarship
A wonderful young lady who is much respected by her teachers as well as her peers. She has devoted her time and energy to raising school spirit. She has been active in fund raising in her community and her church. This young lady has high educational aspirations.

• Heather Wilbanks, PHSAA Burris Scholarship
A student whose diligence and helpful spirit has been very much appreciated by her teachers. She has been very generous in sharing her time for school and community projects. She has taken on the daunting task of Editor of the 2008-2009 Arc Light.

• Teri Klauser
A young lady whose character and leadership skills have served her well. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has represented Palestine High in UIL Prose as well as One-Act Play. She has contributed to her church and the community through her interest in Champions for Children and Relay for Life.

• Whitnee Davis
A member of the National Honor Society, and according to faculty members is a very hard working, dependable student. She plans to pursue a degree in nursing.

2008

The 2 Recipients are ...

• April Aguilera
Enrolled at Baylor University to study pre-med. She hopes to do medical mission work. She was in the top ten of her class, and was active in UIL and drama competitions throughout her 4 years at PHS.

• Beau Jackson
Enrolled at Texas A & M University in College Station. His major is Kinesiology. His dream is to become a high school football coach. He cited several professional football coaches who had influenced his life and hopes to have an equally positive impact on the students that he will coach. He represented PHS in UIL weightlifting competitions and was a co-captain of the fighting Wildcats his senior year at PHS.
