Class of 1958 50th Reunion To All Class Members of PHS Class of
1958,
Our last meeting for our 50th Reunion will be
Sept. 30, 6:30 p.m. at Jerry Hanson's office on N.
Perry.
It is my pleasure to report that seventy PHS Wildcats and thirty-five spouses of the
Class of 1958 will be gathering on Oct. 24th & 25th, 2008 to reflect and
celebrate our high school days as well as share stories of our lives over the
past 50 years.
We will spend the day Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
decorating a float & renewing friendships at 1314 S. Royall. Bring a sack
lunch, order one from Rick at Old Magnolia and he will deliver (903-729-4410),
or come & go for lunch. At 6 p.m. we will go to the Harvey Women's Club for
a catfish dinner and then go to the ballgame together at 7:30. Plans are
being made for us to sit together and be recognized at half-time. Casual
attire for the day.
Sat. morning we will be riding the float in
the October Fest Parade. Tony Foster is cutting a large metal cutout of a
wildcat that will be mounted on the float. It will later be donated to PHS
and the Principal has said we could have it mounted on the right hand wall of
the side walk as you enter the high school. The float will have a
maroon and white skirt and bed with hay bales to sit on and pumkins and
fall leaves all around. If you have a pumpkin and want to share,
please bring it for the float. Casual dress for the parade (jeans would be
great). There are T shirts at Walmart that say Palestine High if you want
to spend 7.99.
After the parade, we will have a root beer float
while sitting in the original booths inside the location of Presley-Crook
Pharmacy now called the Print Shop and then down to the Old Magnolia for
homebase while visiting the live entertainment that will be going on downtown
& old Town on the Sawdust Stage. The winner of the Best Overall Float
Entry will be awarded at 12 noon at the Sawdust Stage in Old Towne and the
Family Stage in Downtown. Entries will be judged on theme continuity originality
and enthusiasm. Fall leaves must be incorporated into the entry to be
eligible for judging. So, Friday we will need class members to bring
buckets of beautiful fall leaves. You can go online to www.palestinechamber.org for
information on what all will be going on in Palestine that weekend.
The parade's theme is "Floating into Fall". Our float's theme will be
"PHS Class of 1958 - Floating into Fall with Memories".
We will wind down our reunion activities with a
dinner at 6:30 at the Harvey Women's Club with 101 people registered to attend. The menu will be a choice of steak
or chicken with vegetables, salad, & desert followed with a program.
Our Class President, Bennie Lester will MC the program. Part of the
program will be a muster for those 28 members of our class who have "gone
on" before us. Attire can be of your choosing.
