    Mr. Black died September 18 in Houston.

    He was born January 5, 1946, in Jacksonville, to the late Aubrey E. and Justine Hocutt Black. He attended school in Bullard and graduated from Palestine High School.

    Survivors include two aunts and cousins.

    Mr. Craft died Tuesday at his residence in Waco.

    He was born June 28, 1946 in Palestine.

    Mr. Craft was a glass inspector for Owens-Brockway Glass Containers and a member of the Glass Blowers Union. He was a veteran of the National Guard and a Baptist.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Jo Barringer Craft

    He is survived by his wife, Margaret Burris Craft of Waco; father and stepmother, Bill and Jo Craft of Gainesville, Georgia; daughter, Deedra Jones of Bullard; son, Darren Pryor of Frankston; stepsister Glenda Blair of Eagle Lake; and four grandchildren.

    Mr. Heaton died Sunday, July 23, 1995, at Trinity Valley Medical Center in Palestine.

    He was born in Memphis, Tenn., on January 9, 1947.

    Mr. Heaton was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church and a member of the church vestry. He was a member of Palestine Rotary Club and Sigma Nu Fraternity.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Dee Cunningham Heaton.

    Mr. Heaton is survived by his wife, Caron Heaton of Palestine; Fred W. Heaton Sr. of Palestine; and sons, Chris Heaton and Trey Heaton, both of Lewisville, and Tim Heaton of Lubbock.

    Pallbearers will be Steve Presley, Ronnie Calhoun, George Torma, Steve Parker, Bruce Barber, Bill Knowles, Harry Toole, and Tim Ellison. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert McFarlane, Bud Scheppler, and Dwain Harris.

    Graveside services for James E. Kerr, 58, of Tyler, were held October 14, at the Henry’s Chapel Cemetery, near Troup, with the Reverend Danny Carter officiating, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home of Troup.

    Mr. Kerr died Monday, October 10, in Henderson. He was born Jan. 9, 1947 to Luther and Dorothy Simmons Kerr. He was a graduate of Palestine High School and Tyler Junior College. He retired in 2002 following 30 years of employment as a service technician for Sears. He was employed by Nasco at the time of his death. He had been a resident of Tyler since 1976.

    Mr. Kerr was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War.

    He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Tyler, where he was a member of the choir and assisted his wife in teaching the Youth Sunday School Class.

    He married Mary Agnes Musslewhite, April 17, 1971, at the First Baptist Church inTroup.

    Mr. Kerr was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Kerr on March 20, 1990. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Simmons Kerr.

    Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mary Musslewhite Kerr of Tyler; a daughter, Jeannie Boswell of Tyler; his father, Luther Kerr of Frankston; a sister, Elizabeth Cavanaugh, of Alamogordo, New Mexico; and five grandchildren, Eric Boswell, Samuel Boswell, Henry Boswell, Jr., Mary ‘Rainbow’ Boswell, and ShaRonda Wade.

    He was born April 3, 1943 in Palestine to Joe "Bud" Miller and Annie Jolly Miller.

    Mr. Miller was a nurse’s aid. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edna Morgan; and six brothers, Melvin Miller, Melton Miller, Lloyd Miller, Howard Miller, Elmer Miller and Delbert Miller.

    He is survived by his sister, Buddie Jo Chappell of Palestine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

    Mr. Mosley died Thursday morning at Home Place in Tyler.

    He was born July 15, 1944 in Palestine to Ed Noel and Estelle Lively Mosley.

    Mr. Mosley was a Baptist. He was retired from Sprint.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Noel Mosley.

    Mr. Mosley is survived by his mother, Estelle Lively Mosley of Palestine; sons, Michael Mosley of Jacksonville and Kevin Mosley of Palestine; sister, Bobbie Wells of Palestine; brother, Charles Mosley of Palestine; and three grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be Mike Bell, Jerry Marsh, Howell Smith, David High, Jerry Mack and Jeremy Marsh.

    Robert L. “Moon” Redden, 60, of Beaumont died Saturday, March 24, 2007. Robert was a retired conductor for the Union Pacific Rail Road.

    He is survived by his wife, Peggy Neely Redden of Beaumont; three sons, Collin Redden of Kountze, Blake Redden of Woodville, and Randy Redden and his wife Ann of San Diego, California; daughter, Melissa Perez and her husband Art of Beaumont; three grandchildren, Chole Redden, Julian Perez, Jayden Perez; brother in law, Ronald Vaughn of Allen; nephews, Ronnie Vaughn of Allen and Curtis Vaughn of Sasche; niece, Vicki Frugia of Allen.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, M.A. and Marie Redden, and sister, Peggy Vaughn.

    Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Dr., Beaumont with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

    Kathryn (Kay) Ann Williams, 15, a sophomore at Palestine High School, died in Memorial Hospital at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday from injuries received in a two-car collision at the intersection of Kolstad and Esplanade streets about noon.

    Seriously injured in the accident was a classmate, Cheryl Lynn Wall, 15, of 90 Cottage Avenue.

    The girls were pasengers in a car driven by Mrs. H. H. Willliams, Kay's mother. She received emergency treatment at Memorial Hospital, but was not admitted.

    The other car involved was driven by Mrs. Wences Rodriquez. She was not hospitalized, but was placed under sedation at her home.

    Police said Mrs. Williams had picked the two girls up at school and was taking them home for lunch when the tragedy occurred. The girls were riding in the back seat of the car and both of them were thrown out of the vehicle.

    Officers said Mrs. Williams was driving west on Kolstad Street and Mrs. Rodriquez was traveling north on Esplanade at the time of the accident. The two cars were demolished.

    Miss Williams' death marked the second traffic fatality to occur in the Palestine city limits this year.

    Funeral services are to be held at 4 p.m. today in the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Felton officiating. Burial will follow in the Judson Cemetery near Cayuga.

    Pallbearers will be Mike McQueen, Sammy Raines, Raymond Henderson, Jr., Johnnie Johnston, Freddie Richrdson and Jimmie Callaway. Members of the Palestine Police Department and the student body of Palestine High School have been named as honorary pallbearers.

    Miss Williams was born in Palestine on January 24, 1947. She was a sophomore at Palestine High School and a member of the Student Council.

    She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Williams, 880 West Carolina Street; a sister, Wanda Gayle Williams of Palestine and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Henry of Bethel.

    Services for Patsy Wilson Lamberti, 58, of Natchitoches, La., and formerly of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Johnson and Dr. Ron Sloan officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery.

    Mrs. Lamberti died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

    She was born February 13, 1947 in Palestine to Arlie B. and Irene Martin Wilson.

    Mrs. Lamberti graduated from Palestine High School and North Carolina State University. She was a charter member with the YMCA youth athletic organization and was the first woman in Anderson County to run for county judge.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Arlie B. Wilson; husband, Thomas G. Lamberti; brother, Kevin Wilson; and son-in-law, Timothy Mitchell.

    Mrs. Lamberti is survived by her mother, Irene Wilson of Palestine; sons, Mike Handorf and wife Lydia and Gaetano Lamberti, all of Palestine; daughter, Melinda Mitchell of Natchitoches, La.; brother, Mike Wilson and wife Claire of Palestine; sister, Sandra Harris of Palestine; and four grandchildren.

    Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a church of choice.

    Services for Phil "Bubba" Gray of 1115 Brierwood Drive, Palestine were today in Roselawn Park with Chaplain Vannorsdall officiating. Burial was under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

    Mr. Gray died Sunday in a Houston hospital.

    He was born September 16, 1947 in Palestine, a son of Philip and Lula Bennett Gray, Sr. He was a graduate of Palestine High School and the University of Houston. He serviced four years in the U.S. Air Force in security intelligence. He was an artist.

    Survivors include his parents of Palestine; grandmother, Eva Gray of Palestine; sister, Phyllis Wier of Oakwood, and two nephews.

    Pallbearers were Donald Faulk, Pat Mitchell, Walter Graham, Harold Raines, Tim Egbert and Jimmy Lester.

    Memorial services celebrating the life of W. Mark Hamilton will be Saturday, December 6, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 106 E. Crawford St., Palestine. Interment will be private.

    Mr. Hamilton, 60, of Bend, Oregon, died November 18 of a stroke at Hospice Center in Bend.

    He was a native of Palestine; he also had lived in Breckenridge, Colorado, and for about 12 years in Austin before moving to Bend in August.

    He attended Palestine public schools, graduated from Schreiner Institute in Kerrville and attended Southern Methodist University.

    He was a self-taught computer programmer and software developer, and worked as chief developer for www.titleX.com and as team developer for www.oginfo.com LLC. He also was a contract programmer for Safesite records management company and had done programming for other firms including Whit Hanks Antiques, Austin.

    He was a son of the late Lester Hamilton, former publisher and co-owner of the Palestine Herald-Press, and a grandson and great-nephew of the paper's founders.

    In Palestine, Mark Hamilton had worked for the NASA Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility and managed three family businesses, Hamilton Hardware, The Roundhouse package store and Old Town Antique Mall. He belonged to Beaver-Catfish Hunting and Fishing Club, Tennessee Colony.

    Science was a lifelong study for Mr. Hamilton, whose interests ranged from astronomy to automobiles, from hiking to beekeeping. He and the late Dr. Dan Rex of the balloon base together built an observatory later donated to Texas A and M University. In Austin Mr. Hamilton rowed at the Texas Rowing Center; he had served on the Breckenridge Ski Patrol. In Oregon, he climbed mountains. He enjoyed music, from classical to Gilbert and Sullivan.

    Mr. Hamilton is survived by his daughter, Angela Ceris Hamilton, a graduate student at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; his mother, Frances E. Hamilton of Norris, Tenn.; his sister, Frances Hamilton Oates of Norris; and his brother, Lee E. Hamilton of Houston.

    Terry Michael Lively of Temple, and formerly of Palestine, died suddenly on Thursday, May 10, 2007. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

    Mike was born in Palestine, Texas on February 18, 1948 to Albert Duard Lively and Gladys Turner Lively. He graduated from Palestine High school and attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. He was employed as a Brazos Valley account executive for ACRATOD of Austin Inc.

    Mike was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary; and a sister, Virginia.

    He is survived by brothers, Morris Lively of Palestine and A.D. Lively Jr. of Jefferson; and sisters, Shirley Milner of Austin and Linda Baxley of Waco. He also is survived by a nephew, Michael Lively of San Antonio; and nieces, Melonie Mills of Austin, Marilyn Rawls and Melinda Morgan, both of Katy, Melissa Pierce of Palestine, Cynthia Hicks of Smithville, and Audra Wells of Denham Springs, La.

    U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Roger Allen Thompson, 19, has died from wounds received in combat in Vietnam, according to word received by his mother, Mrs. W. H. Petty of Route 1, Palestine. He is the seventh Anderson County serviceman to die in that war.

    Mrs. Petty received notification yesterday that her son died March 1 at the station hospital in Da Nang as a result of fragmentation wounds sustained to the head from hostile mortar fire while on an operation in the vicinity of Quang Tri.

    Corporal Thompson, who had entered the Marine Corps as a volunteer on April 11, 1966, had been in Vietnam since last September.

    Prior to entering service, he had attended Palestine High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church here.

    Funeral arrangements are pending return of the body here and will be announced later by Hassell & Foster Funeral Home.

    In addition to his mother, Corporal Thompson is survived by his father, William W. Thompson of Granada, Mississippi; two brothers, Billy Michael Thompson of Winona, Mississippi, and John Mark Thompson of Palestine; his grandmother, Mrs. A. F. Watts of Palestine. He was a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Knight of Palestine.

    As a member of the Marine Corps, Lance Corporal Thompson served our country until March 1st, 1968 in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was not married. Roger died from artillery fire. His body was recovered. Roger was born on May 2nd, 1948 in Palestine, Texas.

    LCPL Thompson is on panel 42E, line 025 of the Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

    He was born January 17, 1949, in Waco to Moses H. Eades and Lillie Mae (Kelm) Eades.

    Mr. Eades attended school in Marlin and graduated from Palestine High School. He graduated from Tyler Junior College, attended the University of Houston and Aeronautical School in Tulsa, Okla.

    He married Sybil Murphy on June 23, 1979, in Duncanville. He worked for L-3 Communications in Waco, formerly Electro Space Systems at Love Field in Dallas, with 25 years of service. He was a member of the HOT Miniature Aircraft Club.

    Mr. Eades is preceded in death by his father, Moses Eades, in 1975.

    He is survived by his wife, Sybil Eades of Speegleville; sons, Jesse Measles of Morgans Point and Glenn Measles of Dallas; brother, Robert Wayne Eades of Dallas; mother, Lillie Mae Eades of Palestine; grandchildren, Justin Measles, Branden Measles and Amber Measles.

    Services for Theo Jenkins, 51, of Springfield Community, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Rev. Lynn Stroud, Rev. Charles Grasty and Rev. Mike Drinkard officiating. Burial will follow in Stafford-Tucker Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

    Mr. Jenkins died early Friday morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

    He was born December 11, 1948, in Palestine to Charles Ashley Jenkins and Ottis Rae Fitzgerald Jenkins.

    Mr. Jenkins was a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church. He graduated from Palestine High School and was president of his senior class. He was a fireman and locomotive engineer for Union Pacific Railroad. He was a cattle rancher for most of his life.

    He was preceded in death by his mother.

    Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sherry Ann Jenkins of Springfield Community; his father; daughters Julie Jenkins Shaw of Elkhart and Jennifer Jenkins Turner of Humble; son Jason Jenkins of Houston; sister Mary Meador of Cayuga; brothers Bob Jenkins of Athens, Bill Jenkins of Stephenville, Harry Jenkins of Houston, Wyley Jenkins of Blackfoot Community, Charles Jenkins Jr. of Springfield Community and Ottis Ray “Honey” Jenkins of Athens; and five grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be Randy Jenkins, Terry Jenkins, Charles Jenkins III, Chad Jenkins, Jeff Jenkins, Brian Jenkins, John Jenkins and Richard Jenkins.

    Mr. Jones died Thursday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

    He was born October 10, 1948 in Palestine to Roy and Loneta Gatewood Jones.

    Mr. Jones was an auto paint and body technician and worked at Coleman Brothers. Mr. Jones loved to hunt, was an avid trail rider and loved his horse Blue.

    He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Vietnam War, where he received the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster; Purple Heart; Expert (Rifle M-14); Marksman (Rifle M-16); and National Defense Service Medal.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Mac Jones.

    Mr. Jones is survived by a son, Richard Jones and wife Kimberly of Palestine; sister, Renee Whitley and husband Mike of Palestine; grandchildren, Ashlyn Jones and Travis Jones of Palestine; and a very special niece, Loneta Jones of Graham.

    Pallbearers will be Michael Henderson, Mark Wolf, Harry Toole, David Killion, Stacy Creswell and Jonathon Hypock. Honorary pallbearers will be combat veterans of Vietnam.

    Mr. Lemacks died Thursday at Tomball Regional Hospital.

    He was born March 6, 1949 in Palestine to Frank P. and Virginia Elizabeth Evans Lemacks.

    Mr. Lemacks was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tomball and a member of the Men's Bible Class at First Presbyterian Church. He was a consulting engineer for Hamworthy International.

    Mr. Lemacks was preceded in death by his father.

    He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Lemacks of Palestine; mother, Virginia E Lemacks of Tomball; step-sons, David Carr and wife Angela of Elkhart and Danny Carr of Palestine; and four step grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be Jared Adair, James Fulton, John Shipes, David Carr, Danny Carr and cousin Howell R. Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Bible Class at First Presbyterian Church.

    Services for William Ernest "Bill" Swift III, 42, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Palestine City Cemetery.

    Mr. Swift died Friday at his home.

    A native of Palestine, he was born Aug. 29, 1949, to William Ernest Swift Jr. and Helen Ruth Green Swift. An entrepreneur/author, he wrote "Stick a Fork in Me, I'm Done."

    He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Harold Anderson Swift, on Nov. 5, 1979.

    He is survived by his daughters, Shelley Swift of Lubbock and Emily Swift of Houston; his mother, of Palestine; grandparents, Jack and Pearl Cookson of Palestine; and a sister, Glenda Minshew of Palestine.

    Pallbearers will be Brian Biggs, Bascom Bentley III, Dick Swift, Ernest Swift, Harold Sumrall and Donnie Rainwater.

    Mrs. Walston died Sunday at her home.

    She was born January 31, 1950, in Palestine to Willie and Frankie Brown Berryhill. She had lived in Palestine all her life.

    Mrs. Walston was a member of Broyles Chapel Baptist Church. She enjoyed visiting with her sisters and spending time with her grandson.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Homer Walston; sisters, Juanita Horton, Ruth Walding and Sandra Berryhill; brother, James Berryhill; and sons, Steward and Dewayne Walston.

    Mrs. Walston is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kenneth Walston of Palestine; son, Kenneth Walston Jr. and wife Becky of Palestine; brother, Benny Berryhill and wife Charlotte of Elkhart; sisters, Retha Marsh of Mesquite, Billie Blackwell and husband Thomas of Palestine, Connie Barton and husband James of Whitehouse, and Shelia McCaffrey of Roanoke; mother-in-law, Doris Walston of Palestine; grandchildren, Cory Walston, Kenneth Springer III, Quinton Springer, Latrica Pena and Angelita Bambeck; and numerous great-grandchildren.

    Army Private First Class James A. Hulsey, 21, was killed in action in Vietnam April 13, 1970 when the military aircraft in which he was riding as door gunner, crashed into a river for unknown reasons.

    Private Hulsey, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Odis Hulsey, 135 Conrad, had been in Vietnam four months and had volunteered into the service two years ago after attending Palestine High School.

    First word of his death was received Friday by his parents.

    A military funeral will be held in Kilgore under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Time and date are pending.

    Private Hulsey is survived by his parents, a daughter, Diedra Kay Hulsey; a sister, Teresa Kay Hulsey, his paternal grandmother, and an aunt.

    As a member of the Army, PFC Hulsey served our country until April 13th, 1970 in Kien Tuong, South Vietnam. He was 21 years old. James died when his helicopter crashed into the land. His body was recovered. James was born on March 18th, 1949 in Palestine, Texas.

    PFC Hulsey is on panel 12W, line 132 of the Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

    Mr. Roquemore died this morning at a Houston hospital.

    He was born in Palestine on September 27, 1949. He was a school teacher for 21 years, and taught at Galena Park Middle School for eight years. He was a Methodist.

    Mr. Roquemore was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Grace Knutson Roquemore, on September 6, 1991.

    He is survived by his father, Abb Leroy Roquemore Jr. of Palestine; sister, Nikki Calhoun of Palestine; and brother, Abb L. Roquemore III of Lufkin.

    Pallbearers will be David Roquemore, Cameron Calhoun, Frank Roquemore Jr., Matt Roquemore, Abb Roquemore IV, Larry Roquemore, Robin Glen-Walker Irvine and Frederick O. Roquemore Jr.

    Mrs. Westmoreland died May 15, 2007, in a Tyler hospital.

    She was born December 10, 1950, in Palestine to Raymond and Dorothy Moser Frantzen.

    She was a secretary at Trinity Clinic - Psychiatry and Counseling in Tyler, and was a member of Southern Oaks Baptist Church, Tyler.

    Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Terry Westmoreland, Tyler; daughters, Lauren Ellis, Athens, and Erin Westmoreland, Tyler; son, Robert Westmoreland, Tyler; brother, Glen Frantzen, Quito, Ecuador; and two grandchildren.

    Pallbearers are Zack Banks, Les Day, Darrell Deel, Keith Ellis, Don Frantzen, Randy Ratliff, Dr. Ray Scardina and Les Westmoreland.

    Honorary pallbearers are Joe Garrison, Luther Westmoreland, Steven Berry and Ryan Wells.

    Jay Cody Hatler went into our Lord’s loving arms Sunday morning, March 2, 2008, at his residence in the Montalba community. He was 56 years old. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Chapel of the Air at Land of Memory Cemetery, U.S. 287 North, with Dr. Barry Roberts officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

    Jay was born July 11, 1951, in Gilmer, Texas, the third son of Jo D. and Jack W. Hatler.

    He attended elementary and junior high in Ore City, Tx. He moved to Palestine with his mother and stepfather, Joe C. Rogers in 1965. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1969, where he obtained the highest score on the SAT exam of any student in Palestine High School’s history at that time.

    He was a U.S. Army Vietnam era veteran, serving from 1970 to 1972. Jay also received several associate degrees from Henderson County Junior College. Jay was an electrician by trade and a Baptist by faith.

    Jay was preceded in death by his beloved mother and stepfather, Jo D. and Joe C. Rogers and his best friend, Tim Luly.

    He is survived by his father, Jack Hatler of Norton; daughter, Angel Jay Massey of Fairfield; sister, Jill Nations of Neches; brothers, Jon King of Tennessee Colony, Jim Halter of Winters and Michael Rogers of Longview; four beautiful grandchildren, Kailea, Chance, Michael and Sarah Massey of Fairfield; and many, many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

    Pallbearers will be son-in-law Michael Massey; nephews, Jon King II, Jim Hatler II, Michael Rogers II, Kevin King and Adam Nations.

    Services for William Ray "Billy" Mosley, 54, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Lyle Huntress officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

    Mr. Mosley died Monday at his residence.

    He was born December 4, 1949 in Palestine to Lawrence and Mildred Mosley.

    Mr. Mosley was a Baptist. He was a graduate of East Texas State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Education.

    Mr. Mosley taught 23 years for the Dallas Independent School District, and in May 2004 would have been his seventh year at Palestine High School, where he was a Special Education teacher. He was a member of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association.

    In January 2004, Mr. Mosley received the Friend of the Year Award from the Palestine Library Friends Inc., for his dedication and time so freely given and his encouragement to the children of the community.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Mosley; and a brother Thomas Mosley.

    Mr. Mosley is survived by his mother, Mildred Mosley of Palestine; a sister, Sharon Gardulski and husband David of Comins, Mich.; brothers, Donnie Mosley and wife Donna of Dallas, Bobby Mosley and wife Alma of Palestine; and three loving nieces, Laurisa and Jennifer Mosley of Dallas, Rosana Mosley of Palestine; and many loving cousins.

    Pallbearers will be Steve Presley, Eddie Hemby, Chris Arthus, Phillip Fenton, Clyde Armstrong Jr., and Forrest Bradberry Jr.

    Mr. Martin was a 1969 graduate of Palestine High School and attended the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He worked as a conductor/brakeman for MoPac Railroad. He was a Baptist and had lived in Kansas City, Mo. for the last several years.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Martin.

    Francis Parker Oswald, 58, of LaBelle, Fla., passed away June 20, 2009. He was born November 22, 1950 in Waco, Texas, the son of the late Francis Clay and Betty Jane (Shafer) Oswald.

    Parker graduated from Palestine High School in 1969 and then from Texas A&M University with a degree in Agriculture Economics in 1973. He was a chemical salesman for Gowan Com.

    He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue (Burnett) Oswald of LaBelle; two daughters, Melissa Howell and husband Brett of Naples, Fla. and Jennifer Oswald of LaBelle; two grandchildren, Ryleigh and Gaige Howell of Naples.

    Funeral services were held Friday, June 26, at Carlson Memorial United Methodist Church in LaBelle with the Rev. Peggy Benson officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Akin-Davis Funeral Home, LaBelle.

    David Charles Ramirez, 19, of South Royall Street, died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday in a local hospital following a brief illness.

    Mr. Ramirez was born January 9, 1951 in Robstown. He attended Palestine High School during the 1968 school year.

    Maggie passed away on the morning of April 26, 2007 with her husband and daughter by her side.

    She was born April 22, 1951 in Palestine to Louise Williams and Rosie Wagner Williams.

    She graduated from Palestine High School in 1969 and attended Trinity Valley Community College. Maggie was employed at Wal-Mart for many years before moving to Tyler. In Tyler she worked for Home Depot where she was dearly loved and affectionately called “Ms. Maggie” by many.

    At an early age, she joined Jerusalem Baptist Church in Palestine and later joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church where she was a deaconess and choir president. After moving to Tyler, she joined New Life Community Church and was a deaconess at her time of departure.

    She was preceded in death by both parents; a daughter, Patricia Black; and sister-in-law, Ella Ree Black.

    Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 37 years, Alfred Black Jr.; one daughter, Shirlene Black, both of Tyler; one sister, Shirlene Gipson of Palestine; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Edens of Dallas, Geraldine Demar of Palestine and Penny Black of Mesquite; one brother-in-law, Rickey Black of Mesquite; hosts of nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.

    Viewing will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at McCoy Funeral Home. On Friday, viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Sterling Funeral Home, 302 N. Ross Ave., Tyler, Texas.
